FAQ: Can A Person Legally Conceal Carry A Firearm In A Doctor's Office That Is Not In A Hospital?

Ask The Michigan Firearms Instructor
Q: Can I Open Carry in a regular doctor's office that's not attached to a hospital?

A: A hospital is listed in the Michigan Concealed Pistol License (CPL) statutes. However, a doctor's office is not a pistol-free zone, unless it happens to be in a hospital. As such, there is no statutory prohibition against carrying a concealed firearm in a doctor's office outside of a hospital.

However, if your doctor informs you that by his policy that firearms are not allowed in his office, then you should abide by his wishes. He could deny you service and then call the police to arrest you for trespassing if you refuse to leave. Moreover, if you are a fervent believer in gun rights then you have a decision to make: lock your firearm in your vehicle or find another doctor.
