Personal Protection Tip: Exercise Discretion About Your Personal Finances

Personal Protection Tip: One excellent way to remain safe is to exercise reasonable discretion about your personal finances. It is certainly understandable that a sudden financial windfall would elate the average beneficiary but that is no reason to share the news with any and every person you know, you associate with on an infrequent basis, or communicate with via social media.

Many people in our community have been set up for violent attacks by violent predators who were informed of that person's good fortune: lottery and gambling winnings, an inheritance, a profit sharing distribution, or an income tax refund. Thus, it would be wise to only disclose a change in financial holdings to only people who have a need to know.
