Personal Protection Tip: Always Lock Your Vehicle's Doors

Personal Protection Tip: An often overlooked safety tip is the act of locking your vehicle's door promptly upon entering it. Don't make it easier for a carjacker to make you his next victim by allowing him to merely snatch your door open while you are stopped at a traffic signal.

For many owners of newer vehicles, the car's electronic system does this simple act - door locking - automatically. However, for people driving older model cars, it will require just a second to make you more secure while on the road.

By the way, if someone should just happen to appear at your car and attempt to open the door, you should consider yourself to be in a "reasonable" and imminent threat of great bodily harm - immediately take defensive action.
