Michigan Concealed Pistol License Tip: During A Traffic Stop IMMEDIATELY Disclose You Have A CPL

Michigan Concealed Pistol License Tip: If you are ever stopped while in a vehicle, either driving or as a passenger, you have a legal duty to IMMEDIATELY inform the officer that you have a CPL if you are armed. If not armed, it is still a good idea to make the declaration.

It is within the officer's discretion to take possession of your firearm for the duration of the stop. If the officer (DPD) wants it, go slow and over-communicate. It may also be a good idea to tell the cop you are talking to if he would let the other officers know that you are about to produce a firearm.
