Michigan Home Defense: Prickly Plants Provide Passive Protection

Michigan Personal Protection Tips: Prickly Plants Provide Passive Protection.

A major premise behind deterrent home security measures is that if you make your home slightly more difficult to compromise than others nearby, bad guys will bypass yours to find lower hanging fruit elsewhere.

Planting prickly plants, such as rose bushes, under windows can provide an extra layer of security to your home without resorting to installing unsightly metal bars. Some bad guys may be reluctant to attempt an invasion via a window, if there is a chance that they will be uncomfortable.

Other prickly plants to consider adding to your landscaping include, but is not limited to, the following: Pyracathas, Agaves, Berbers, and Blackthorns.
