Guns and Kids: Preventing Tragedies in the Home Seminar - Saturday, Nov. 30th, 2014

Detroit Gun Instructor Creates Seminar To Address Accidental Child Shootings

LAID - November 24, 2014 - DETROIT --Over the last month, four children in four separate incidents were seriously injured in metro-Detroit when they gained access to an unattended firearm in a home.
Accordingly, "Legally Armed In Detroit" will be organizing a 3 hour presentation on how parents can effectively own guns to defend their homes while also responsibly safeguarding their guns from children.
The express purpose of this event is to educate the community how to own firearms while responsibly keeping their children safe.
This program will be of special interest to the following people:
- Parents with both guns and children in the home.
- Parents with children who want to buy guns.
- Parents of children who visit the homes of others.
The agenda will be as follows:
- Rick Ector, an NRA credentialed Firearms Instructor, will be opening the session with an introduction to fundamental safety.
- A 45 minute "Project Childsafe" video from the National Shooting Sports Foundation on firearms in the home will be played. The presentation will be moderated by Michigan Gun Owners.
- Terry Johnson, a local attorney with a specialty in Firearm Law, will be providing a primer on the legalities and the responsibilities of having a gun in the home.
- Q & A
The first 50 registrants of this program will receive a FREE gun cable lock. The locks were donated by Michigan Open Carry, Inc and the Algonac VFW.
Registration to this event will be capped at the first 60 people to officially register via the link below. The link will take you over to Eventbee to finalize your registration.
Parents are encouraged to also register a child to come along with them.
The program will be conducted on Saturday, Nov. 29th, 2014 at 10am at the L.A.D.S. (downtown) at address 613 Abbott Street, Detroit, MI - Plenty of free parking is available.
