Personal Protection Tip: Don't Share Your Vulnerability On TV

Personal Protection Tip: Don't Share Your Vulnerability On TV

It is certainly understandable how a neighbor of a murdered victim would want to speak out on the senseless killing of a senior citizen. After all, she knew him - an 84 year old Vietnam Vet - for over 60 years. However, it was completely ill-advised for her to say on TV that she and her husband live across the street and that they do not have a means of protecting themselves.
In the article, the neighbor was identified by full name and was quoted as saying, "I'm a nervous wreck. Because we don't know who did this, was this someone in the neighborhood? Are they capable of coming back. We're senior citizens and I don't have anything to protect myself, and my husband."
If the victim's neighbors had not thought of buying a firearm before now, I would urge her to do so now or move out of the neighborhood since she just advertised to all of metro-Detroit and to her neighbor's killer that she and her husband are elderly, scared, nearby, and defenseless. Predators in metro-Detroit have no qualms against home-invading, raping, robbing, and killing people, especially senior citizens. Do not give them an invitation.
I pray for the comfort of the family of the victim and petition that the killer be brought to justice and receives harsh punishment for his crime. Moments like this make me wish that Michigan had the death penalty.
