Video: Rick Ector Discusses Detroit DGU and Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke on NRA "Cam and Co. Show"

Yesterday afternoon, at 2:40pm EST I made an appearance on the "Cam and Company Show." As you may have heard the show still airs daily on the NRANews web site, but at a new time: 2:00pm - 5:00pm EST. The fourth hour and additional new hour of coverage is on the Sportsman Channel.

During the show we discussed a recent "Defensive Gun Use" (DGU) story featuring an armed Detroit great-grandmother who fought off an attack from a jacker on a bus. In addition, we also discussed the pro-gun comments from a Milwaukee County Sheriff - Mr. David Clarke - who urged his residents to take up arms to fight off criminal attacks until his men can get there.

These days, it seems that a good reason to carry a firearm is getting lost amid the noise being generated by the Gun Control initiatives mentioned by President Obama during his recent inauguration speech. Make no mistake about it, a firearm is a tool of last resort that Detroit residents have available at their disposal to remain as safe as possible in a community that witnessed 411 homicides last year.

Rick Ector on "Cam and Company" Today to Discuss Detroit Defensive Gun Story

Later this afternoon, at 2:40pm EST I will be making an appearance on the "Cam and Company Show." As you may have heard the show still airs daily on the NRANews web site, but at a new time: 2:00pm - 5:00pm EST. The fourth hour and additional new hour of coverage is on the Sportsman Channel.

During the show we will be discussing a recent "Defensive Gun Use" (DGU) story that recently happened in the city of Detroit.

If you have been following me, you already know how I feel about Gun Rights and Gun Control. I will be sharing my thoughts, opinions, and feedback. I will post a video recap link, if and when one is made available later in the day.

Rick Ector to Appear on Tracey McCaskill's "Focus Forum" to Discuss Safety Options for Women

This ensuing Sunday morning - January 27th - I will be making an appearance on Tracey McCaskill's "Focus Forum" radio show.We will be discussing personal protection, gun control, and gun rights. Special emphasis will placed on the subject of women's empowerment. Much media coverage has been given to the 411 recorded homicides in the city of Detroit 2012, however, the issue of rape is barely mentioned.

At least two women are raped every single day in Detroit. The actual tally could be higher because it is widely believed that all sexual attacks are not reported. Please listen in to the show and hear why I believe that women need to take on a more active role in their safety and the safety of their families.

The show will be aired twice - back to back - on two different stations : The first broadcast will be at 7:00am EST on radio station 92.3 FM (WMXD) and then will be rebroadcast 7:30am EST on radio station 97.9 FM (WJLB). Listen in and hear my thoughts on the subjects for the day.

If you are not in the city of Detroit, you can click the aforementioned station links and listen live over the Internet.

Rick Ector Debates Armed School Teachers On "Let It Rip"

Last night, I made a live appearance on Fox2 Detroit's local news show - "Let It Rip."

On the weekly news program, I participated in a discussion regarding whether we should consider arming our school children to keep them safe from deranged homicidal lunatics.

This topic was inspired by fallout created over the senseless tragedy in Newtown, CT whereby a deranged man stole firearms from his own mother after fatally shooting her in the face and ultimately killed 26 people at an elementary school.

Rick Ector Debates President Obama's Call For Gun Control on Huffington Post Panel

Earlier today I made an appearance on a "Huffington Post Live" moderated panel discussing Gun Control related issues. The original premise of the discussion concerned itself with the apparent anti-gun comments made by President Obama during his recent inauguration speech. It has been about a month since the mass shooting incident in the Sandy Hook Elementary School in CT and proposed solutions from the Administration are focused on gun control solutions: lower capacity magazines, a so-called "Assault Weapons" ban, and universal background checks on all firearm purchases.

The video is embedded below. Please view the debate and leave comments on this page.

Michigan Personal Protection Tip: Thwart Home-Invasion Attempts

Michigan Personal Protection Tip - Thwart A Home-Invasion - A common tactic used by burglars to test whether a residence is safe to break into is to simply ring the doorbell. If the home-owner fails to respond in some fashion within a reasonable amount of time, the bad guys simply go to the rear of the home and smash a brick or large rock into a back window so that they can gain access. Obviously, for this reason, home-owners should explore options to safeguard windows to the rear of their property.

In addition, home-owners should also make every effort to respond to visitors to their homes. If there is an unannounced and unexpected knock on the door or a ringing of your doorbell, it should be safely answered. Your response could very well thwart a burglary or a home-invasion attempt due to the fact that the bad guys knows someone is in the house. However, do keep in mind that some predators have no qualms about entering an occupied dwelling, so be cautious whenever you answer your door.

Rick Ector Debates Gun Control in Huffington Post Moderated Panel Debate

Earlier today I made an appearance on a "Huffington Post Live" moderated panel discussing Gun Control related issues. The original premise of the discussion concerned itself with the timing of an alleged NRA licensed firearm training simulator/game built for the cell phone console. Some people across the country raised their eyebrows at the release date - about a month since the mass shooting incident in the Sandy Hook Elementary School in CT.

During the show we actually discussed whether it was untimely for the video to be released at this time as well as a host other ancillary and related issues: whether video games incite violence, whether mental health be given higher visibility in the gun control debate, and whether other methods such as arming school employees can work.

The video is embedded below. Please view the debate and leave comments on this page.

New Detroit Lady Shooting in Gun Range Stall - Michigan CPL Class

It is a great feeling to introduce new shooters to firearm safety. Many times, students are forced to face their often unfounded fears about firearms to even consider getting trained. The new shooter in this video clip had a "flinching" issue that corrected itself with continued practice and the growing belief in herself that she should not be afraid. Instructing new shooters is a passion. If you are curious about firearms but don't know where to start, visit our web site on the Internet: http://www.detroitccw.com
