Michigan Home Security Tip: Install Security Grills On Your Windows

Michigan Personal Protection Tips: Install Security Grills On Your Windows

There are a ton of security measures available in the marketplace to better enable you to keep bad guys out of your home. Some of the more extreme measures may make your home look and feel like a prison.

Nothing is perhaps more unsightly than bars on your windows. However, if you have a neighborhood full of people who never see anything and if the local police department treats burglary calls as low priority, installing grills on your windows is the only acceptable window security option short of leaving town.

Getting inside of the average home is not very difficult. All a bad guy really needs to do is toss a brick into a back window and climb inside. If you have an alarm monitoring service, nosy neighbors, and a fast responding police department, you may force the home invader to do the equivalent of a "smash and grab," in which he will quickly grab valuables in plain sight and exit. Otherwise, he could have the entire day to rob you blind while you are at work.

Besides detracting from your home's appearance, you would want to also make sure that the bars do not endanger your safety during a fire. Any safety grill system that you use should be designed so that it can be quickly opened from the inside. Moreover, regular safety drills should be practiced to ensure that everyone in your home knows how to safely open the grill in an expeditious manner.
